Site description

Reconversion of a former military site to welcome industrial activities.

For the past 12 months, the French Army has been hosting teams from the local authority and various design offices to carry out the initial preparatory studies for the reconversion: fauna/flora studies / development studies / pollution studies, etc.

The site, with a total surface area of 47 ha and a rail connection, was only partially occupied by the army (PUMA helicopter maintenance), and left the site in 2024.

Green industry: a commitment to supporting the relocation of production and new technologies that contribute to decarbonizing the economy, saving energy and deploying equipment to produce renewable energies.

  • High-voltage power grid
  • Electricity study underway for a direct connection to the CHOLOY MENILLOT substation (3 km away) for higher power ratings (10 to 25 MW). Discussions are underway to increase power output. Current installed electrical power: site served by medium voltage: private 1992 delivery substation and private 1992 800 kVA transformer substation with dry air insulation.

Local economic context and training opportunities

Domgermain has just been awarded the “Territoire d'industrie” label for the second time (French Government support to industrial territories), with a special focus on the green economy. A number of leading industrial companies are focused on decarbonization, including Saint Gobain PAM, Kimberly Clark, SAM and VICAT.

Toul and Nancy employment areas: a catchment area of 511,000 inhabitants. Part of the economic strategy of the Greater Nancy metropolis: cooperation between territories for industrial development. Jobs in the industrial sector are a priority for employment agencies. Maison de l'emploi (employment center) in Pays Terres de Lorraine and Greater Nancy to facilitate recruitment.
