Projects to improve site accessibility

Discussions are currently underway to anticipate electricity needs > 100 MW (gigafactory in particular) and Engie (biogas).

Local economic context and training opportunities

There is potential in Châteauroux and surrounding areas:

  • 3,263 jobseekers with industrial profiles
    1,700 jobseekers with logistics profiles
    1,084 temporary workers with industrial profiles
    an inflow of new employees.

Added to this is the region's training capacity: 400 in industrial trades and over 20,000 apprenticeship contracts.

The main industrial sectors are metallurgy, chemicals and materials, mechanics and agri-food, with links to logistics and aeronautics, and opportunities such as hydrogen. At the same time, we are constantly on the lookout for new business start-ups and the development of associated sectors to diversify our economic base (automotive, etc.).

The region boasts a dense R&D network in numerous fields of expertise (health, cosmetics, energy and electronics, water, agriculture and agrifood, materials, digital), and the structuring of the automotive sector with the support of the a competitiveness cluster, one of 8 competitiveness clusters and thematic clusters in the region.
